Portfolio

Since 2017, at the age of 13, I’ve been writing and recording music—every year, at least one album or EP, usually more. I started on a 4-track cassette recorder under the name RockGati, and from the beginning, I’ve made it a point to push myself with each release. Reinvention never felt like a goal—instead an inherent need.

At this point, I see my discography as a story. Each release is a chapter. Each song, a page. What you’re about to hear are eight of those pages—eight moments pulled from that book—along with two pages I helped write (or rather, produce to be clear). Some are rough around the edges. Some are polished. But all of them are human.

In case these audio files appear to be broken, here is a Spotify playlist with all of the tracks highlighted on this page.
Some people have also mentioned audio files work and then un-work…nothing a refresh can’t fix!

Rings – Greg Sheffield (II) 2025

Beatles-esque indie pop tune

This is what I released to introduce my upcoming Untitled trilogy, this track being off its second album II. Here I wear my Beatles influence on my skin, with all instruments being played by me save for help from my good friend and fellow audio engineer Logan Wareham on trumpet.

Title Fight – Sunday Love Club (Love Letters EP) 2024

Client work, twinkly indie rock/shoegaze, 5.3k plays

My most recent client mix, from a local band based in State College, PA. This track blew up in their scene—over 5,300 plays and counting. A tight indie rock jam with a splash of psychedelic shoegaze. I handled the recording, production, and mixing, bringing out the energy without polishing it too clean. It’s raw, jangly, and it seems it hit exactly how it needed to.

*Nevermind – RockGati (Elephants) 2025

Grungy, alt metalgaze album closer

This track not only closes my album Elephants, but it also closes the RockGati project that I cut my teeth on. For a while, the demo of this song caused me physical pain to listen to. However, after some coercion from my close friends and people who were fans of the project, the final product came out to be a crushing blend of quiet-loud grunge, alt metal, and shoegaze. Drum performance provided by Kolby Evans.

Easy Love – nuVos (Single) 2025

Spacey alt rock love song with synthy orchestral climax

Here is a lush 90’s inspired love song, presented by the world’s first intertemporal band nuVos. The story with this band is that we present ourselves as a time traveling band hailing from the future. This opened the door for an endless amount of jokes and lore, which helped us win over the crowd at the Big E in 2024. nuVos is Kolby Evans on drums, Eric Miller on keys, Logan Wareham on second guitar/bass, and yours truly on guitar/vocals. For visual art we have been working with Lithuanian artist Aras Mekas, best known for his Approaching Mountains ambient project.

dear – Greg Sheffield (divina lingua) 2023

Catchy electro indie pop

This one is a cute little earworm over a pseudo-house beat. A little lo-fi, yet holds some charm. This was a staple in the nuVos setlist at one point and was always a crowd pleaser.

Half The Boy, Twice The Man – RockGati (RockGati) 2023

Heavy alt rock, 5.8k plays

I wrote this one when I was 14 and initially included it on an album titled RNBW. Around 2021, I initiated a project where I recorded some of the best pre-2020 RockGati songs and compiled them into a self-titled “greatest hits” record. That record performed the best out of the 4 mainline RockGati albums, and this was the biggest song at over 5,800 streams.

Count To Four – RockGati (Every Aardvark Drinks Green Beer Everyday) 2021

My biggest song, emo/indie rock, 6.2k plays

To some people, this is THE RockGati song. Some of my happiest – and most stressful – memories involve this song. It was definitely pivotal in my growth and helped push me to go further with my music.

Scary Dreams – Rednave (Hubris) 2022

Client work, psychedelic dance punk, 2.4k plays

Although the recording is very amateurish and low budget, this record was some of my earliest client work and did decently well in the Western Massachusetts local scene. This track currently sits at just above 2,400 plays and is a cool, doomy psych rock jam with some punk influence.

Pennies – RockGati (Candy Cigarettes) 2020

Acoustic indie pop, first track to break 1k plays

This was my first ever track to hit 1,000 plays (although Spotify nuked it when I rereleased it as a remaster). This record was a huge moment for me, as it was the first time I had made something of consistent quality (compared to what came before, which was often jumbled and unfocused) and still holds up. Not the craziest thing ever, but I remember being very proud of it at age 16.

learn to be – Greg Sheffield (learn to be) 2024

Psychedelic pop piano ballad

The title track for the second album in my learn to series. A mix of Billy Joel and Billie Eilish, this psychedelic piano ballad has plenty of pleasurable ear candy and is a personal favorite of mine. I’m proud of the production and melodies on this one, the whole album feels like an acid trip and this song is like the last bit of visuals before a comedown.

Optional Listening:

The following tracks are honorable mentions, perhaps not for their technical ability but more because they may add some more color to the painting:

Heaven’s Roll Call – Greg Sheffield (Althouse Laboratory) 2025

Apocalyptic cinematic ambience

My first full-ambient project, this is the brooding anthem of the Rapture. Heaven’s trumpets ring out in this short yet cinematic instrumental piece. Originally stemming from a cool sign on a building at Penn State University and a car alarm my friend and I heard in the dead of night, this eventually evolved one of my biggest projects which is an ARG detailing a late stage capitalist world decaying into the post-Anthropocene, where people upload their brains into a super-AI called The Cloud. The logs are split into three “epochs”, with this album and its corresponding log planned to be the end of the first epoch. A mix of dark humor and cosmic horror.

VESSELS OF GOD – Greg Sheffield (IGNIS FATUUS SOLARIS) 2022

Vibey hard dubstep with surprise twist at the end

This record came out right as RockGati was building hype in the local Connecticut scene, which challenged listeners familiar with my indie rock norm however was well received. With a lot of EDM influence, this was the true catalyst to The Cloud project. Loosely tied into lore and more focused on songwriting and production. Definitely seeds that grew into something much bigger and more fleshed out. Also highlights my favorite trick and one I’m known for among my friends – the bait and switch.

good grief – Greg Sheffield feat. Outis (learn to die) 2024

Electronic/hip hop track with metalcore climax

Although a bit edgy, over the top, and probably my darkest record to date, this was my first mainline experiment with metal (RockGati played with it before and I had been in some hardcore punk projects previously). Including this to highlight my versatility. Plus, my sister said it was “hard”, which means a lot to me considering she doesn’t usually listen to this kind of music. Co-written with my friend WIll McCoy, known musically as Outis.

sum MONEY – Greg Sheffield feat. NoLuvJP (Single) 2024

Catchy pop rap banger

A catchy pop-rap single chock-full of hooks, I wrote this with my friend Jamie Powell, known artistically as NoLuvJP. We recorded this in my 2004 Mustang outside of a public park in Manchester, CT. I feel like that setting helps exemplify the working class themes of this song, which isn’t afraid to be a bit goofy and playful. Opens up with a semi-rap verse sung by me.

Washed Up – Beachblanket (Single) 2022

First paid client work, catchy ska punk tune, 1.4k plays

My first ever paid client work working with Jake Russell who now plays in the New England reggae/ska punk band Sol Gyres. This is a catchy indie ska jam with great summer vibes. Might not be the best sounding track on this page, but it was definitely a promising start and a great opportunity to spread my wings outside of my own personal music.

Once again, these are just pages in my story. I tend to think in chapters—albums and arcs. However, I feel these best highlight my current abilities, my goal of diversity, and how I got here. Thanks for listening!
